Event Overview
OpenVoice Debate hosted a two-day British Parliamentary (BP) debate tournament on July 6–7, bringing together students to compete in both the School and Open divisions. Through multiple preliminary and final rounds, participants engaged with a variety of motions that challenged them to think critically, build persuasive arguments, and respond effectively under time pressure.
Tournament Highlights & Award Recap
The tournament concluded with outstanding performances across both divisions. Emily Cai and Anchen Lyu were crowned School Champions, while Donner Tang and Mario Ma became Open Champions. Mario Ma was also named Best Speaker of the tournament with 375 speaker points. Anchen Lyu received School Finals Best Speaker, and Donner Tang was awarded Open Finals Best Speaker. Beyond the awards, the tournament gave students an opportunity to sharpen their argumentation, teamwork, public speaking, and strategic thinking in a competitive BP debate environment.
Parents' Feedbacks
Parents valued the opportunity for students to challenge themselves in a structured and intellectually engaging environment. The tournament allowed participants to develop confidence in public speaking while learning to analyze complex issues from multiple perspectives.
